Weary Wolves stung by Watford as Neto nets but it’s not enough – report

Watford 2 (Deulofeu 30, Doucoure 49) Wolves 1 (Neto 60) Weary Wolves kicked off 2020 as they ended 2019 – in defeat – as they were beaten by improving Watford. The highlight was undoubtedly Pedro Neto’s first Premier League goal after Gerard Deulofeu and Abdoulaye Doucoure had put the Hornets 2-0 up going into the last half hour. Watford played the last 19 minutes with 10 men after Christian Kabasele was sent off, but Wolves, looking jaded in what was their 35th game of the season and third in seven days after champions Manchester City and runaway leaders Liverpool, couldn’t…

Wolves cub Sanderson could follow Watt with loan move

Wolves defender Dion Sanderson could follow team-mate Elliot Watt with a loan move this month. Midfielder Watt, 19, has joined League Two strugglers Carlisle United on loan for the rest of the season. Like Watt, right-sided defender or wing back Sanderson, 20, has been a regular with Wolves’ Under-23s for the second season in a row. The Wednesfield-based academy graduate made his senior debut in the 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Aston Villa on October 30 and the next step in his progression is seen as a loan move to give him experience of League football. But it’s understood other…

Wolves prepared to keep faith with Cutrone – and no bid from Fiorentina

Wolves are prepared to keep faith with Patrick Cutrone, despite interest from Italy to buy him this month. Fiorentina have been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old striker in the Italian media. But while Wolves are keen to add a quality forward this month, they are also happy to keep Cutrone and allow him time to develop and achieve his potential. Reports say Fiorentina are preparing a £12.75m (15m euros) bid and claim Wolves want £17m (20m euros). Wolves know Cutrone has a high profile in Italy and will be attracting interest due to his lack of game…

Jesus left! Wolves look set to say farewell to Real Madrid defender Vallejo

Wolves look set to wave goodbye to Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo this month. Vallejo is on a season-long loan at Molineux but has barely featured and all parties are looking at ending the arrangement early. The 22-year-old centre back has made just seven appearances and only one Premier League start – the 5-2 defeat against Chelsea – while he hasn’t featured since the 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat away to Aston Villa on October 30. His only other top-flight game off the bench in the 1-1 draw against Southampton when Ryan Bennett limped off with a hamstring injury. Madrid are…

Wolves cool on Campana after Ecuadorian striker linked

Wolves want to bring in a striker this month – but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be Leonardo Campana. The club have been linked with the 19-year-old, who plays for Barcelona SC in Ecuador. It’s understood Wolves have spoken to the player’s agent and are aware he is available on a free transfer at the end of the season, but it hasn’t gone further than that. Campana, who has four full caps for Ecuador, caught the eye at the South American Under-20 Championship, top-scoring with six goals in nine games at the tournament as Ecuador were crowned champions.…

Rafa Mir heading back to Wolves after failing to shine for Forest

Wolves striker Rafa Mir is heading back to Molineux after an unsuccessful loan spell at Nottingham Forest. The 22-year-old has made just two Championship starts in a total of 11 League appearances plus another two in the Carabao Cup. Mir failed to find the net in his 13 games and hasn’t featured in their last six games since December 6. He hasn’t been in the squad for the last four matches. Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi said when asked if Mir is heading back to Wolves: “Probably, yes. We need to decide with the club.” Mir still has two and a…

Bright Enobakhare heading back to Wolves early after Wigan cut short his loan

Bright Enobakhare is on his way back to Wolves this month after Wigan decided to end his season-long loan prematurely. The 21-year-old forward has made just three appearances for Paul Cook’s side and hasn’t featured since August 20. It’s understood Enobakhare has been training with the youth team for several months and will be heading back to Molineux, probably to be sent out on loan again. Wigan had agreed to take the Nigerian for the whole season, but now the clubs have to come to a financial arrangement over his wages after the Latics decided to end the deal early.…
