Bright loan move to Wigan as he signs new Wolves deal

Wolves have allowed Bright Enobakhare to join Championship side Wigan on a season-long loan – after signing a new contract.
The 21-year-old forward heads up the M6 to join Wigan boss Paul Cook – the former Molineux midfielder – having penned a new one-year deal. He had an extra 12 month option activated on his deal earlier this summer.
Wigan have beaten off interest from rival Championship club Birmingham as well as League One side Coventry, where Enobakhare enjoyed a superb loan spell in the second half of last season, scoring six goals in 18 games. The Sky Blues were keen to take the Wolves Academy graduate again and bid £600,000 for him earlier in the summer.
Enobakhare returned to train with Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-team during pre-season, but didn’t make the squad for the trip to China for the Asia Trophy, nor for any of the four Europa League games so far.
Wolves sporting director Kevin Thelwell is still hoping Enobakhare could use his latest loan spell to become a Premier League player, such is his talent.
“We’re really pleased to tie Bright down to an extended deal and also pleased to give him the opportunity to go and play in the Championship,” said Thelwell. “We’re hoping he’ll be able to build on the great work that he did at Coventry last year.
“We all recognise that he’s a player that’s got great potential and hopefully this gives him a platform to prove that he’s capable of making the next step into the Premier League, by doing well for Wigan.”
Enobakhare could make his Wigan debut on Saturday against Preston.
