Wolves striker Mir set to move to Forest

Wolves’ out-of-favour striker Rafa Mir looks set to join Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old forward has been the subject of interest from several Championship clubs both before and after spending last campaign with Las Palmas. But Forest look to have won the race ahead of Birmingham City for his signature, with some reports on social media suggesting he is set for a medical at Forest on Tuesday.
Mir was recently part of Spain’s squad that won the European Under-21 Championships in Italy and San Marino this summer. But he is not considered ready for Wolves’ first-team squad yet, despite the departures of Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro, although the impending arrival of Patrick Cutrone from AC Milan will provide another option for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
He made four appearances shortly after signing in January 2018 for around £2m from Valencia, where Nuno had earmarked him as an emerging talent and promoted him to the senior squad for La Liga and Champions League games. But he has not worn a gold and black shirt since January 20, 2018, ironically when Wolves lost 2-0 at home to Forest.
Last season Mir scored seven goals in 30 games in the Spanish second division, where Gran Canaria-based Las Palmas finished 12th. He started 19 of those games, while he played wide in around half of them. Should Mir’s move go through, he would join several other Wolves players out on loan, including Ryan Giles (Shrewsbury Town), Christian Herc (FC Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Republic) and Connor Ronan (Dunaska Streda in Slovakia).
