Wolves’ Mir excited at joining Forest and can’t wait for debut chance against Albion

Wolves striker Rafa Mir has revealed his delight at joining ‘ambitious’ Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old forward will get his first taste of the Championship since January 2018 after his switch across the Midlands to secure first-team football after falling down the pecking order at Molineux.
Mir could be line to make his Forest debut against Wolves’ arch rivals Albion on Saturday tea-time for their Championship opener. He tweeted: “I’m very happy to sign with @NFFC and defend the colors (sic) of a historic club in England! An ambitious project to continue growing as a footballer. I can’t wait for the season to start!”
Mir scored seven goals in 30 games in the Spanish second division last season on loan at Gran Canaria side Las Palmas, who finished 12th. The Spain Under-21 international, who helped his country to glory in the UEFA European Under-21 Championships this summer, will be hoping for a better chance to stake a claim than the last Wolves player to join Forest on loan. Fellow striker Leo Bonatini joined the City Ground outfit on loan last January but made just five appearances for Forest, including just two starts, and failed to score and was frozen out by then manager Martin O’Neill some time before the end of the season. But former Wolves men Jack Robinson and Adlene Guedioura remain at the City Ground.
Bonatini, who Wolves have made available for transfer, is attracting interest from Forest’s Championship rivals Reading, according to reports.
