Nuno wants two more signings for Wolves

Nuno Espirito Santo says he still wants to add two signings to Wolves’ squad before the transfer window shuts on August 8.
One of those will be Patrick Cutrone, whose £16m move from AC Milan has been agreed and the striker is due to undergo a medical on Tuesday. The other is believed to be Benfica defender Ruben Dias, who has a £57m release clause in his contract. Manchester United are reported to have had an opening bid for Dias turned down by the Portuguese giants, who don’t need to sell after raking in around £180m this summer.
“We feel we still need two players to bring us up to 18 players, which is the number we want to work with every day, plus the Under-23s and the players we want to develop in a big squad,” said head coach Nuno.
“It’s different (this summer) because all the clubs are expecting (something to happen) and are not making decisions. But we have done our homework, we have defined targets, then it’s a process of negotiation and finding the right moments, and everyone was delayed. But we are still on time to bring in the players we want to, because we want to increase the quality of the squad.”
Nuno has only made one other new signing since last season ended – Real Madrid centre back Jesus Vallejo, 22, on a season-long loan.
Wolves are said to have held initial talks with Benfica over Dias, but the Portuguese champions are in no hurry to sell. Dias is one of Europe’s most highly-rated defenders. Capped 11 times by Portugal, where he is a team-mate to Molineux men Rui Patricio, Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho, he was in their Nations League winning side, was man of the match in the final against the Netherlands and was named in the team of the tournament.
At the end of his first season with Benfica (2017-18) after being promoted from Benfica B, he was voted Primeira Liga’s best young player of the year.
