Seventh heaven again Wolves – Thelwell outlines PL challenge

Sporting director Kevin Thelwell insists Wolves have been challenged to repeat last season’s Premier League finish – despite the added congestion of the Europa League. Wolves surpassed expectations last term by claiming seventh and qualifying for Europe for the first time in 39 years on their return to the top flight. They were the highest finishing promoted club for 18 years, since Ipswich were fifth in 2000-01. Wolves looking elsewhere as Ajax bid for Alvarez

Wolves are assessing other targets with Edson Alvarez the subject of a £12.5m bid from Ajax. It had been claimed that the 21-year-old Mexico international was moving to Molineux after the CANCACAF Gold Cup. But although the club are well aware of him, they have so far not made an offer.
