Mick defends decision to ditch Wolves’ Doc

Mick McCarthy has defended his decision not to play Wolves wing back Matt Doherty in Ireland’s last two games, but admits he ‘loves’ him. The 27-year-old was forced to sit out the 1-1 draw away to Denmark and the 2-0 win against Gibraltar, with captain Seamus Coleman preferred at right back and Ireland manager McCarthy reluctant to give Doherty another chance at wide right. Wolves in China to help find a future Prem star

Wolves have launched a series of projects in China with the ultimate aim to produce a Chinese footballer for the Premier League. Academy manager Scott Sellars is currently in China to help launch a series of projects looking to introduce the game at grassroots level. Wolves are looking to expand their brand globally, but particularly in China, where the club’s owners Fosun International are based, ahead of their appearance in the Premier League Asia Trophy in the country next month.
