Wolves’ squad for the Hong Kong Sevens tournament has been announced.
The club will send 10 players, all from their successful Under-23s squad, to play in the seven-a-side tournament, which takes place from May 17-19.
Wolves’ squad is: goalkeeper Anders Sondegaard, centre backs Dion Sanderson and Ed Francis, wing backs Cameron John and Ryan Giles, midfielders Sadou Diallo, Pedro Goncalves and Elliot Watt, winger David Wang and striker Niall Ennis.
Coach Rob Edwards will be hoping to continue the success that has brought the Under-23s the Premier League 2 Division Two title. All apart from Wang have been regulars in that side this season.
Wang, 18, joined in January on a four-and-a-half year deal from Spanish feeder club Jumilla B, and has spent the rest of this season on loan at Sporting.
Wolves and Fulham are competing in the event for the first time and Edwards’s side have been drawn in Group D with Rangers, Hong Kong FC and HKFA Red Dragons.
Other English interest sees West Ham and Fulham in Group A, Aston Villa and Leicester City in Group B, and Brighton and Newcastle in Group C.
Wolves kick off their games on Saturday, May 18 against HKFA Red Dragons at 3.23pm before facing Rangers around an hour and a half later. Two hours later they meet Hong Kong FC.
The top two teams in each group qualify for the last eight, and the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final are all held on the following day, Sunday, May 19.
