Wolves end of season award winners in full

Wolves celebrated their best season for nearly 40 years with their big-name players dominating the awards.

Joao Moutinho was voted player of the season, and Raul Jimenez was players’ player of the season and top goalscorer, as revealed at the club’s glitzy end-of-season awards night at Telford International Centre.

Diogo Jota won the ‘goal of the season’ for his superb team goal in the 2-0 win against Cardiff at home.

Ruben Vinagre was voted young professional of the year and left-sided centre back Lewis Richards, a first-year scholar, is the Academy player of the year.

Jimenez and Jota were also shortlisted for the player of the season award.

Wolves Women’s player of the year went to homegrown defender Emma Cross, who has been at the club since she was nine.

Captain Conor Coady provided one of the most humorous moments of the night.

He said: “I’ve said it before that Molineux is the best place to play football in the country. The atmosphere for the Manchester United game in the Cup was the best I have known, for any game I’ve been involved in.

Host Jacqui Oatley then asked Coady: “Are you saying the Wolves fans are better than Liverpool fans?” Coady answered: “Yes!”
