Wolves Under-23s suffered their second successive defeat as they went down 2-0 away to Newcastle United Under-23s in Premier League 2.
Rob Edwards’s side, who are top of the table, got off to the worst possible start as they conceded both goals inside the first seven minutes at Blue Flames Ground, Northumberland FA.
Tyrique Bartlett netted after 40 seconds before defender Cameron John’s own goal doubled Newcastle’s advantage.
United are now third in the table, three points behind Wolves, who lost 2-1 away to Derby in the Premier League 2 Cup last time out.
Edwards’s side will look to bounce back when they return to action on their travels again this time, away to Villa, on Monday, April 8.
